Review: Orbito (FlexiQ Games) – English

Eight black marbles. Eight white marbles. Two players. Four in a row. One press of a button and the battle erupts in Orbito.

Setting up Orbito is simple. Turn the knob and set up the game board. Give each player eight marbles of his color and two enemy friends are ready to defeat each other. The objective is as simple as the setup: get four marbles in your color in a row vertically, horizontally or diagonally. Will you be the first to succeed? Then you’ve won Orbito.

Orbito is four in a row with a twist and a gimmick. Each turn you move one of the other player’s marbles of your choice, but orthogonally. After this, you place one of your own marbles and then press the button. By pressing the button, all marbles move counterclockwise.

The board contains a 4×4 grid whereol players can place and move their small balls. The board contains two areas: the outer edge and those four squares in the middle. The balls on the outer edge naturally move slower when pressed than the marbles in the middle. Because of this, players have to plan well. One wrong move and there’s shit on the marble.

Orbito is a fun and reactive abstract game inspired by four in a row with a very fun twist and gimmick: the marbles move around the board requiring you to plan your moves and sabotage those of your opponent. The game board and marbles are of high quality. Orbito is easy to pick up and play a few games in a short time. While thwarting, remember that a game of marbles is not about the marbles, but about the game. Time your move, time the win!
