Review: Château (Tucker’s Fun Factory) – English

Will you be the first to celebrate your regal residence?
Chapeau! I mean Chateau! In roll and write Château – made by Dutch game designer Martin van Rossum and published by Tucker’s Fun Factory – players roll dice and draw shapes and try to be the first to build their chateau.

In Château, each player assumes the role of an architect of a magnificent historic estate. Players simultaneously build the blueprint of their architectural masterpiece by simultaneously placing crosses in shapes on their chateau based on the dice rolled.

Each player has a unique castle (player board) with a unique composition of spaces and each chateau also has a special bonus that the respective player can use to his advantage. The first player to mark all spaces of his castle by placing crosses wins the game!

Each round the two dice are rolled and players use the results of the roll to fill their board. There are several shapes players can use, but some you can use only once. Sometimes a catapult is thrown, which will cause players to tick a square at each other. Crowns allow you to tick squares with objects, and if you tick a hammer you may tick another square.

Each castle has a unique property to help players along the way, making each game with a different castle slightly different. Through it all, Château is a short and simple roll and write with plenty of variety and dynamics.
