Bidding, bluffing and double bluffing: can you handle it? Don’t lose your head in Skull, published by Asmodee. An elegant and simple bluffing game, best played with friends. Will you be the first to win two rounds, or will the skull card give you headaches?
Skull is a simple bluffing game that is nicely and handy produced. This makes it handy to take to meetups and parties. The concept is classic: everyone has four cards, one of which contains a skull and the other three flowers. Everyone takes turns playing a card face-down as they choose. When someone believes they can turn over a certain number of flowers without drawing a skull, they bid a number. Other players can then overbid if they think they can turn over more flowers. The highest bidder then gets to see if he is right and does not find any skulls. If the highest bidder wins, he can turn over his player card and is one step closer to victory. If the highest bidder wins a second round, they win the game. But if the highest bidder is wrong, then another player may remove a card from his pile. If you lose too often, you are out.
Skull is a game full of opportunities to bluff. Do you overbid to get someone else to bid more cards? Do you bluff when bidding while you have a skull down? Or do you not bid to imply you have a skull? The choice is endless! As far as I’m concerned, Skull belongs in the category ‘Party games with guaranteed success’. Do play with at least four players for maximum fun!
