Review: Gouda Gouda Cat Attack (Playte) – English

Can you dodge the attacks from the cats and cleverly avoid the mischief of your fellow players at the same time? If so, there’s a good chance you’ll get your paws on the tastiest cheeses and secure a Gouda victory.

In Gouda Gouda Cat Attack, players try to move their mice across the game board towards the cheeses to score points. You roll dice to move your mice; if one of your mice lands on a space with a piece of cheese, you may take it. The player with the most points wins the game.

However, this is not just a typical roll-and-move game, as there’s a twist. Players don’t choose which mice to move before rolling, but first decide from which space they might move mice. Depending on the number of mice on a space, you roll up to five dice. For example: if there are three mice on a space, you roll three dice. For every red roll, you move a mouse back; for each green roll, a mouse moves forward; and for a yellow roll, you may move the cat, which chases mice away.

The fun part is that you can influence whether and how your opponents’ mice move, but you also need to spread your risks a little. If you’re on spaces together with opponents, you can assign a red roll to an opponent, but they can just as easily do the same to you.
