NL: Blok een avondje om een blokje om te gaan in de kubistische wereld van Cubitos, een blokkerig spel van White Goblin Games. Sta jij al in de startblokken of heb je een blok aan je been?
In Cubitos gaan jij en de andere spelers dobbelstenen werpen om zo snel mogelijk over de finish te gaan. Je denkt wellicht gelijk aan ganzenbord, maar dan heb je ongelijk. In Cubitos gaan spelers het lot tarten, hun geluk beproeven en geld over de toonbank smijten om als eerste te finishen. Het lijkt wel de Formule 1, maar dan met louter scherpe bochten!
Spelers gaan tegelijk dobbelen en leggen “treffers” (dobbelstenen met een symbool) apart op het actieveld. Een speler mag de resterende blancostenen dobbelen, maar indien zij enkel blanco dobbelstenen werpen hebben zij een kans om onderuit te gaan en verliezen zij hun resultaten tot nu toe. Nadat alle spelers gestopt zij met dobbelen mogen zij acties verrichten op basis van hun worp. Spelers beginnen allemaal met wat grijze dobbelstenen. Op de dobbelstenen staan voetjes en muntjes. Met voetjes mogen spelers hun blokkerige beest over het speelbord verplaatsen en muntjes betekenen uiteraard geld. Sweet, sweet Wonga!
Met geld kunnen spelers betere/andere dobbelstenen kopen. Er is een rijk palet aan verschillende stenen te koop en allemaal doen ze wat anders. Aan het begin van het spel wordt er per kleur dobbelsteen een bepaalde eigenschap opengelegd. De meeste eigenschappen zorgen ervoor dat spelers verder kunnen verplaatsen of meer geld verdienen. De keuze is reuze, iedere doos bevat een schot in de roos!
Cubitos is een snel, spannend en uniek dobbelspel. Het heeft wat weg van Kwakzalvers van Kakelenburg gecombineerd met Yahtzee en zelfs Formula D. Ben je hebberig en ga je voor een extra dobbelworp voor een hogere beloning? Let dan op, want je loopt de kans om onderuit te gaan… Of speel je veilig en behoud jij jouw magere resultaat? Ik hoef niet hard te blokken om dit spel aan te raden!

In Cubitos, you and the other players throw dice to cross the finish line as quickly as possible. You might immediately think of games like Candyland, but you are wrong. In Cubitos, players are going to defy fate, try their luck and throw money over the counter to be the first to finish. It’s like Formula 1, but with nothing but sharp corners!
Players roll the dice simultaneously and place “hits” (dice with a symbol showing) separately on the action field. A player may roll the remaining blank dice, but if they roll only blank dice they have a chance of going down and losing their results so far. After all players have stopped rolling, they may take actions based on their roll. Players all start with some grey dice. The dice show feet and coins. Feet allow players to move their blocky beast across the game board and coins, of course, mean money. Sweet, sweet Wonga!
With money, players can buy better/other dice. There is a rich palette of different dice for sale and they all do something different. At the beginning of the game, each colour of dice has a certain property. Most properties allow players to move further or earn more money. The choice is vast, every box contains a shot in the rose!
Cubitos is a fast, exciting and unique dice game. It is a bit like Quacks of Quedlinburg combined with Yahtzee and even Formula D. Are you greedy and do you go for an extra throw of the dice for a higher reward? Then watch out, because you run the risk of going under… Or do you play it safe and keep your meagre result? I don’t have to play hard to recommend this game!
