Hit the barrel, so we drink together, not alone. At least, we hope there is enough to drink, because in Barrel Dice you don’t know how much your fellow players will order and how much the bartender will pour. Players earn points for the amount of beer they drink, but if there is not enough to drink for everyone, the most greedy player will receive penalty points.
Each player is given a set of cards to order with and a starting elf is chosen to receive the dice cup and beer kegs. Barrel Dice is a dice game with unusual dice (they are shaped like a barrel and have only two values) where players will gamble on the outcome of the roll.
Each round, one player is the bartender and this player is going to roll the barrels. All barrels that are standing are set aside and players can bet ond e amount of beer they think they can drink these rounds. The bartender can then continue rolling dice on quit. If the bartender then throws without any barrels standing up, the throw has failed. Players check to see if there is enough to drink. If there is, players earn points and the bartender gets the remaining points (unless the roll had failed). If there is not enough, the bartender keeps the beer in front of him and the greediest player receives minus points and the most modest player gets some points out of pity.
Barrel Dice is a funny game that should no be taken too seriously. It is fun for during a game of beer with some buddies and is especially fun to play as a somewhat less serious distraction between serious games.
