After the previous successes of Dice Throne, there is now a release aimed at the Marvel fans amongst us. Marvel Dice Throne is both a great addition to the rest of your Dice Throne collection, and a fun introduction to the Dice Throne universe. Dice Throne heroes, assemble!

In Marvel Dice Throne, you take on the role of your favourite Marvel hero. In total, there are no less than eight (anti) heroes available: Scarlet Witch, Thor, Loki, Miles Morales as Spider-Man, Black Widow, Dr Strange, Black Panther and Captain Marvel. The heroes are available in three separate sets (see the included images), all of which are also playable on their own, as you only need two heroes to start playing. Besides the three single sets, a deluxe set is available where all eight heroes come collected in a nice collector’s box. In addition the Marvel sets, you can even combine all heroes with previous Dice Throne sets. This way, you can have Captain Marvel fight a living tree (Treant) not named Groot!
The asymmetrical gameplay aspect means that you can cast a spell over your opponent with Doctor Strange’s wizardry at one time and be worthy of Thor’s hammer the next. This is also just what I greatly appreciate about this game, with every new combination of characters you play a completely different game. Besides the actions, each character’s game board and dice are also completely in style of that character. As we are used to from Dice Throne, this version is just as well produced as the previous games in the series.
The game is fast-paced, so you are constantly on the edge of your seat. Every turn, you roll your five dice in the hope of performing one of the actions on the board with the right combination. Yet the game does not rely on luck alone, with the cards in your hand or your character’s special actions you may still be able to roll the required dice. Don’t rejoice too soon though, your opponent(s) may also have some tricks up their sleeves. With a pinch of luck and the right tactics, will you be the only one to leave the battle alive?
Marvel Dice Throne can be played with 2 to 6 players both independently and in teams. Despite the differences in difficulty between characters, they are well matched in all combinations. It is not a difficult game to learn and all necessary information is clearly visible on your character’s board and the instruction card. In short, also ideal to introduce to new players or players with less patience. If you like very complex and tactical games, Marvel Dice Throne may not be for you. For anyone who likes to play a game, who would love to be a Marvel character, or who just loves to throw dice, Marvel Dice Throne is highly recommended. Excelsior!

“Marvel Dice Throne remains an immensely good mix between strategy, luck and risk management. Throwing dice is always exciting and players have more than enough influence on managing their luck. With all these different characters and gameplay modes, the game has more than enough variety. The Marvel characters make the game even more inviting and varied (Star Wars next please?). A huge plus is ability to combine all Dice Throne sets and characters for a living play experience. Rightfully so, this game sits on a throne in my personal collection. “
