“Stick ‘em up, you dirty dog!” The sheriff of the town of Deadwood has held up a nasty bandit. The bandit shrieks that an even bigger crook is after his acquired gold. “You ought to be trembling in your boots, sheriff!” The gold rush has been gripping the town for ages. After all, gold turns good men into evil demons. Dramatic flute and mouth harp music plays in the background. Wind blows tumbleweeds forward on the dry ground and a dark shadowy figure appears in the distant horizon. As the shadow approaches, the sheriff sees he has a weapon drawn… Is it time for the sheriff to meet his fate? In Dexterity Jane players take part in a real Mexican stand-off. In Dexterity Jane, your hands are your weapons. On the table a number of tiles are placed in a tile pile. The top tile not only shows the number of the current round, but also the amount of cards the players have to turn over.
All cards are turned face up at the same time (in this process, players try to distribute this task as evenly as possible). The cards all show hands. Some hands have bent fingers or thumbs. Players try to bend all fingers that are shown on the cards as quickly as possible. Be careful: you have a left and a right hand and the cards also make this distinction. In addition, cards with the same bent fingers follow one another. Be quick, but pay attention! The player who is first to fire his fingers correctly receives the round tile and the corresponding points. The player with the most points at the end of the game declares himself sheriff.
The game also contains several options for players who find the difference between left and right a bit tricky, and also an option where players can steal gold from each other by “shooting” at each other by forming a gun with their hand (“bang bang”).
Dexterity Jane is a simple party game for players who like dexterity and speed games. Players not only have to bend their fingers correctly, but also have to be the fastest. This is why the game is not for everyone. If you don’t like speed games, then the game can feel a bit dry. Players will be looking for answers and will often lose the thread.
