iDventure makes multiple types of puzzles, escape rooms, mysteries and games. They also make puzzle boxes: the Cluebox puzzles. They have also made a game based on Schrödinger. Schrödinger’s cat is a thought experiment by Austrian physicist Erwin Schrödinger and illustrates the problems of quantum mechanics with everyday objects. In this experiment, a poor cat is locked in a box along with some poison. Quantum mechanics now says that after a while, the cat is both dead and alive. In this Cluebox from iDventure, the box is not just a thought experiment and Schrödinger has actually locked the cat in this wooden puzzle box. Scattered professor Herr Erwin has only forgotten that he has locked up his ‘precious’ pet. So is the cat still alive or is the cat dead? There is only one way to find out: open the box.
We do often review escape rooms or escape room games for this website, but in these categories we very often review wooden puzzle boxes. These puzzle boxes seem to have grown in popularity in recent years. Opening the puzzle box is a fun activity that takes about 45 to 60 minutes depending on the difficulty level. The puzzles are quite similar to those you encounter in escape rooms or escape games such as Exit. Once you have solved the puzzle you often find a surprise and you can use the box to store things. For example, you can use the puzzle box as a piggy bank with a complex lock. Fortunately, you know the solution and it is easy to open the box again later. Small drawback is that a potential thief might be good at puzzling (or know how to deal with search engines) and also know how to crack the code. It may be more about the gimmick there. These boxes do make very nice gifts, as you can often fill the box with a little something and then pass the box around so that someone has to solve it and make an effort to get the gift.
The Cluebox Schrödinger’s Cat is an interactive puzzle box with different puzzles and tasks that have to be solved one after the other to open the box. In the words of iDventure, an escape room in a handy format. Cluebox Schrödinger’s Cat is a fairly simple puzzle box. That is not to say that the puzzle box is not challenging, but the puzzles, unlike the thought experiment, are easily grasped by almost anyone after some solid thinking.
