Review: Oriflamme: Ablaze (Studio H) – English

The kingdom is ablaze, as the fast bluffing game is back and has brought reinforcements! Oriflamme: Ablaze is a standalone sequel to the first volume, but can also be used as an expansion. Once again, players try to get crowned by backstabbing each other, bluffing and playing political games. Will you live as a king or queen or will you be deposed?

In Oriflamme: Ablaze, as in the base game, each player is dealt 7 of a set of possible cards. A total of 6 rounds are played with these cards. Each round, players place a covered card at the beginning or end of the row of cards or on one of their current cards in the row. Then the row of cards is played in order. Covered cards may be turned face up (to activate their special power) or remain covered for a victory token. Cards already uncovered in the row are also activated again. The special powers of cards allow players to move cards, remove them or earn or steal victory points. The card row is constantly changing as a result. After 6 rounds the game is over and the player with the most points wins!

Even after many games, Oriflamme remains a wonderfully chaotic gambling and bluffing game with quite a bit of tactics for a very fast game. Oriflamme the base game already contains different cards, many nuances, sneaky tactics and special effects for enough variation. Oriflamme: Ablaze is a stand-alone game, but can also be added to the base game. This creates even more variety and ways to play. Just like the original worthy of an award!
